Building a Relationship with Music

Music is embedded within each one of us. Whether we believe we are musical or not, there is a vibration and a frequency we are all attuned to. Music is at the core of our relationships to others and to self, it helps us navigate feelings of all kinds. Music is at the core of what it means to be in this human experience. Music can connect us even when we do not know the same language, music helps us interpret the primal feelings encoded in each one of us.

Through the many years of this musical journey which started at the age of 4, its been a rollercoaster of love and hate, of facing deep fears, and high accomplishments, fear of success, resting in failures, being seen, being dismissed, learning to use criticism for self improvement, years of tears, times of being deeply misunderstood, to moments of flow state when everything around me stopped moving because I was so enmeshed in the movements of my fingers across the keys because of the love of this accomplishment was flowing through me.

Music Forged a relationship with myself, the parts I hated, the parts I wanted to remove, it took me a long time to learn to love this craft. It asked soo much from me.

At the core of it, it made me face myself, made me face emotions I didn't want o face or acknowledge. Music demanded me to be seen. When all I wanted to do was hide.

Music flows through all from the depth of the Earth to the planets that hum above. When we take the time to take a taste of that cosmic river flowing through all of, we then truly understand how we can be connected to the all of everything. Music helps us build that relationship to ourselves and the world around us. More importanttly it helps build the relationship you have with yourself, it demands you to see yourself, it asks you to open to all the parts of yourself that you dismiss, that you are frustrated with, the parts that hurt, but it asks you to open to these parts so that the music can come in and help heal these deep pains, to help you be seen and heard, to help you express when sometimes you may not have the words, and through letting the music see you and heal you you start to develop agency to help others be seen and heard as well through the music that you have also connected to.

Music asks you to develop a relationship to being raw and wants you to see that every part of the journey is needed and necessary, that the human experience is to feel. Music asks you to feel, to be with the flow of its emotional vibration. Music is to Feel your

Human experience.
